You can take calligraphy lessons online, anytime anywhere!
After registering, select a video that suits you, practice, take a picture of your work with your smartphone, and post it on the Facebook private group to receive feedback. We also answer any questions you may have to fully support your Japanese calligraphy study journey. You can get started straight away with only a calligraphy set and smartphone, receiving speedy feedback and corrections from your own private teacher. The number of sample videos posted increases every month and are all archived so you can quickly access and find an example that suits you.
Usually, it takes a great amount of time to achieve your goals if taken by correspondence (ie sending us a hard copy of your work via mail). However, at this Japanese calligraphy online course, you can get quick feedback and you won’t be alone because you can also see the calligraphy works of your fellow calligraphy students, interact with them and make friends.

Easy to understand with videos!
You can watch and learn at your own pace so you will improve faster than studying from a Japanese calligraphy textbook. We also take pride in our custom, in house made materials, which are clear and comprehensive.
Wherever you are on your Japanese calligraphy studies, we have materials for you to use and bespoke services for you to take advantage of.
For example, if you wish to acquire the prestigious Dan and Kyu grades or gain a masters qualification, your teacher can fully support you.
By subscribing to the Japanese calligraphy magazine "Shosaku" and submitting an assignment, your work can be awarded a rank. We can also ship you a physical copy of the magazine to show your family and friends! Kindly note, we will need for you to send the original copy of your work via post to our studio in Japan and your work must reach us no later than 12th every month. It will take approximately two months from the date in which we receive it to get your grade.
Sharing experiences!
In this Japanese calligraphy online class, you can also see works submitted by members of the group. You can view other students’ works, connect and build relationships. With our online Japanese calligraphy classes, we aim for you to improve and connect with others who share your same passion.
You can also join our virtual classrooms and feel as though you’re in Japan learning the beautiful art of Japanese calligraphy through the comfort of your own home.
We’re open to negotiating rates to best suit your needs and budget so contact us if you’d like to know more. Further, all students have the opportunity to participate in the annual training course for the ascending grade test!
Online Japanse Calligraphy lesson flow
1． Course selection and payment
There are 3 courses to choose from: Gold Membership, Silver Membership, and Bronze Membership
For Gold members, requests for detailed corrections can be made up to four times a month.
For Silver members, requests for detailed corrections can be made up to twice a month.
For Bronze members, your teacher won’t be able to provide any detailed corrections. However, you will still have unlimited access to our materials and will still be supported throughout your learning journey!
Payments can be made via PayPal.
Once your payment has been confirmed, we will send you an invitation email to to our Japanese Calligraphy salon.
2． Search for sample videos
After being approved as a member of the Japanese calligraphy online lesson, search for a model by searching from the search mark at the top.
For beginners, sample videos for beginner courses are available, so please search for "beginner".
For those who want to get a rank, please use the sample videos of the magazine "Shosaku".
If you would like to access an archived video, using a keyword search will save you plenty of time. In the case of getting a grade, you can easily find it by searching for example "2020年漢字半紙". If you are looking for a Rinsho videos, please search by typeface (Kaisho, Gyosho or Reisho), Hojo book name or author name in Japanese.
You can also use topic tags.
For beginners, level up little by little if you learn the topic tag "Beginners” → "Intermediates”.
For advanced users, please use the topic tag of the Hojo you want to learn.
3． Submission of works
Take a picture of your piece of work with your smartphone and attach the file to the comments section of the sample video you used. If you would like a detailed correction, please add the following: “request for correction". After confirming and correcting the work, we will post it again in the comments section. If you only need a simple comment or advice in text, please add a comment "I need your feedback".
4. Receipt of correction
If you upload your work in the comments section of the sample video, we will correct it. The corrected version will be posted again in the same comments section. Feel free to download a copy and use it for your studies.
